Rivendell Cheviot (2014):

A 50cm mixte; I just finished up the build. My new “go to” bike with Nitto stem and handlebar, Shimano brake levers with Silver friction thumbies, cork grips, Brooks saddle, Shimano drivetrain with Sugino chainrings, Velocity wheels with Shimano hubs, FSA headset, and Thin Gripster pedals.

Surly Pugsley (2011): I bought this frame in 2010 after lurking on the Fat Bikes thread for months. I don’t live near snow but I’m pretty close to the beach. Not to mention lots of mountain biking. This is my first internal geared hub; an Alfine 11. I put this whole bike together except I had the wheels built.

Components: Jones Loop bar, Avid BB7 brakes and levers, Crank Brothers Cobalt headset, Thomson Elite stem, Raceface seatpost, WTB Pure V saddle, Middleburn crankset paired with an Alfine 11, Eggbeater pedals, Large Marge rims, Larry tires.

Surly Big Dummy (2010). I bought this bike as a complete earlier this year (2011). I really wanted just the frame to build the bike up myself after the summer (I was training for a Livestrong Challenge mid-July), but the new frames did away with the swooped top bar. I couldn’t find just a 2010 frame. I really like that swooped bar.

Nothing wrong with those 2011’s; beauty’s just in the eyes of the beholder. Components: My Dummy’s pretty much stock. I added Crank Brothers pedals, and recently installed (not shown) a H Bar, new handlebar tape, and Ergon grips.

The Dummy deserves better, updated pictures.

  2. nice bikes, just love that pugsley! Live in norway with loads of snow and perfect areas for fat bikes but never seen a single one. Got to have one soon! 🙂

  3. Some sweet bikes here!! You should bring your Puglsey up to Alaska and ride snow trails in the wintertime.
